Artist's Comments

Colorful autumn foliage landscapes the northwest corner of Lake Drummond at Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia. Even though the lake covers 3,142 acres, its maximum depth is only six feet. Due to the ongoing drought in the southeastern United States though, the water level is about a foot lower. This photo was taken from the pier at the end of Jericho Ditch. The best time to view wildlife on Lake Drummond would normally be just after sunrise or just before dusk.

Thanks. :-) I was lucky to find decent colors within Great Dismal Swamp. The foliage along the ditch trails were primarily "dismal" with mostly yellows and no orange or reds.
